The process of collecting a DNA sample from participants for DNA relationship testing between sisters, brothers, or brother and sister (siblings and stepsiblings) is completely painless and takes about 4-6 minutes. Commonly, the DNA sample used in the genetic test is an oral swab taken with a cotton swab (cheek buccal epithelium sampling), also called a saliva test (standard cheek-swab samples).
